Our history
We are Oksana and Andriy Sydor, and we founded Wiener Kerzenmanufaktur 2022 as a family business. As the founders of the events agency DikArt Creative Marketing, we also have many years of experience in creating unforgettable experiences. We are originally from Lviv in Ukraine.
The idea of making our own candles came to us back in the early 2000s – somewhere in Tyrol. Unfortunately, we can't remember exactly what the name of the small Alpine town was where we stumbled upon a little candle shop. It was attached to a church and primarily offered candles for weddings, baptisms, and funerals. That was inspiring, but we wanted something different: candles for atmosphere, colour, scent, and warmth. Today, many years later, we naturally also offer a diverse range of baptism and wedding candles on an individual order basis – but our fundamental idea has always been different.
Back in the winter of 2013, we were able to realise our dream of opening our own candle shop in Lviv, thereby laying the foundations for our current workshop. This vision now lives on in the heart of Vienna. We are the proud parents of two daughters and a son. For us, Wiener Kerzenmanufaktur is not just a shop, but a place of inspiration and creativity for the whole family. We place great importance on ensuring that everyone who visits our workshop feels welcome and at home from the very first moment.
Handmade candles made with passion
We learned the traditional craft of candle making from scratch, drawing inspiration from European manufactories as well as bright, cosy candle shops worldwide. Each of our candles is handmade with love. We pay great attention to sustainability: the main component of most candles is a plant-based wax – a natural, environmentally friendly, and non-toxic raw material.
We particularly enjoy working with pure beeswax. This versatile natural material allows us to create candles in the most varied of shapes. Beeswax candles They emit a warm, soft light and exude a delicate honey fragrance, while simultaneously purifying the air thanks to their antibacterial properties. We are convinced that only that which is done with sincerity and joy can truly succeed. Our customers can feel this passion and honesty – and that is precisely what makes our candles so special. ❤️
Sharing creativity: Candle-making workshops in the heart of Vienna
With over twelve years of experience in candle making, we now share our knowledge and passion with others in workshops. In our candle boutique manufactory at Singerstraße 26 in Vienna, we regularly hold three creative workshops, which we designed with great love. Whether Candles & Wine, Candles & Fragrances or Kerzen & Kakao – with us, candle enthusiasts can get creative themselves and experience our world of candle-making up close. These workshops are aimed at adults and children alike, and are also a highlight for corporate events or private celebrations.
